Festivaria - a theatrical, global audio installation by Firma Draaijer&DeVreis
Firma Draaijer&DeVries, or 'De Firma' for short, is a social-artistic theater company from Leeuwarden that creates personal, documentary, and experiential theater based on untold stories and in connection with the community. Come by and meet theater makers Romke Gabe Draaijer and Eline de Vries at their art installation, Festivaria!
What is Festivaria?
Festivaria is a theatrical, global audio installation in the form of a traditional Dutch snack wall. You insert a coin into the machine to open a compartment: inside, you see a diorama and hear personal stories through headphones about eight different global festivals and rituals, from Chinese New Year and Diwali to a Curaçaoan funeral or Día de los Muertos in Mexico. Each compartment offers a personal four-minute mini-experience. Stop by between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM and be surprised by a festive encounter with another culture.
And that’s not all, because starting at the end of August, 'De Firma' will be touring with the youth theater production The Queen's Flight / De Flecht fan ’e Keninginne, followed by a new site-specific theater production in early 2027.
