The Frisian theatre company Pier21 presents a compelling theatrical production about family, secrets, and how old wounds unconsciously shape the present.

During a private rehearsal, we meet a young director and a celebrated actress. What begins as a professional work session derails when the actress struggles with her native Frisian language. For her, that language is inextricably linked to the pain of her youth. A silenced family history relentlessly forces its way to the surface.

In this tragicomic performance, Anna Raadsveld and Merel Staalstra bring two women to life with humor, sharpness, and vulnerability as they draw ever closer to a shared history. With a script by Roos Bottinga and directed by Mara van Vlijmen , Pier21 creates a production about what families pass down without words. About what we carry with us from our youth. And about the question of how much of that past still resonates within us today.
